The fridge is a place that always seems to get smelly. It's no wonder why it does either, there are all sorts of different types of food in there letting off their own aromas and the mixture of scents is sometimes not the most pleasant one. Another reason we may be getting a nasty odour coming from our fridge is because something is rotting which means that it's time to do a good fridge cleaning. Sometimes even food that's not rotting can have a very pungent odour like cabbage or salmon. There are the typical diy ideas you can try like putting a box of baking soda in the fridge opened. The baking soda will absorb the scents and neutralize the overall scent in the fridge. But sometimes these scents can be way too over powering, and you just can't seem to get rid of them no matter what you do. This is another one of the great diy ideas that will help get rid of fridge odours for you. It's a very simple life hack that you can do in under 5 minutes and uses items you may already have around your home. It actually recycles a couple of things which is always a plus.

So all you need is an old sock that you don't plan to wear anymore. This is great for those socks that are missing their mate, instead of throwing them in the garbage, use them for this. You'll also need some used coffee grounds, or new depending on what you have on hand. You can also open up K cups and use the contents of them for this diy idea. So take your sock, it doesn't matter what style of sock, just make sure that there are no holes in it. Then using a cup to support the sock, open it up wide and fold the ankle part of the sock over the outer rim of the cup, so it stays open and ready for you to scoop the coffee into. Then take your coffee grounds and start scooping them into the open sock filling it just over half way full. You can leave the top of the sock open, but you can also close it up as well if you're worried the coffee grounds will spill all over your fridge and make a mess. Then place the coffee ground sock in the fridge at the back and in the centre.

The coffee grounds will not only over power whatever other strong scents happen to be invading your fridge, but they will also absorb the stinky smells from your fridge too leaving your fridge smelling mainly like coffee probably. You'll have to replace your coffee sock deodorizer ever few weeks depending on how smelly your fridge is, but if you drink coffee every day, you should have a good supply of coffee grounds in store, so just store some of them in a jar each time you make coffee. You can keep reusing the same sock until it's looking too used and then replace it with another loose sock. You can even pick up some cheap socks at the dollar store if you don't have any extras lying around. If you want to put this trick to use in other areas of the home like your gym bag or your bathroom, give it a shot and see if it works. You can also use coffee grounds to make nice homemade body and face scrubs as well by adding some coconut oil and essential oils.
