If you want to be a little more frugal, you can try out making a lot of your own cleaning supplies at home, including this great Home Made Liquid Dish Soap Recipe! The author of this post and creator of this particular dish soap recipe, shares this how to with us after spending quite a bit of time figuring out how she could actually make her own dish soap, to save money and to be more eco conscious. It took her a little while, but she did it! And she was so pleased with the results, that she decided to post them up for us to try out.

Jill, over at The Prairie Homestead, worked for 3 weeks, doing trial and error on figuring out the best recipe for this soap. She says it wasn’t the easiest thing she has ever done, and thought it would take her a lot less time, but it is so worth it in the end, because now she will always have a good, simple recipe on hand for her handmade dish soap. And we can all make use of it too!

She used a lot of different variations and recipes before she found what worked the best together, like a science experiment! So the soap that she came up with was the perfect consistency, not too runny and not too thick. You don’t need many ingredients either, a bar of soap you can grate up with a cheese grater, washing soda - not the same as baking soda, and vegetable glycerine. You can leave it plain, or add in your own essential oils for an aromatherapy experience while washing the dishes.

She even posted some of her favorite essential oils combinations. What a great way to make your own dish soap! Keep the recipe on hand and try it out! Head over to The Prairie Homestead by following the link in the description below for the recipe and more!
